MECC Overview
The Massachusetts Educator Collective for Change (MECC) is excited to announce the search for passionate and dynamic teacher leaders to join our inaugural cohort. As a member of MECC, you will help shape the policy agenda for Educators for Excellence – Massachusetts (E4E-MA), inform state education policy, contribute to advocacy campaigns, and elevate teacher voices on critical issues.
This one-year commitment, from January 2025 through December 2026 , with an option to extend your commitment for another year through December 2026, offers a unique platform to make a lasting impact. Through regular meetings, professional development, and public engagement, MECC members will advocate for policies that reflect the real-world needs and experiences of Massachusetts educators. You will have the opportunity to engage directly with policymakers and amplify your voice through media and public platforms.

As an MECC member, you will:
- Identify key education issues affecting Massachusetts teachers and advocate for policy solutions.
- Work with state policymakers, community leaders, and education organizations to drive change.
- Serve as a public steward for Massachusetts educators through public speaking, Op-Ed contributions, and policy reports.
- Collaborate with fellow MECC members to develop and share evidence-based policy recommendations.
Opportunities and Benefits:
- Stipend: $1,500 in Year 1 (disbursed in June and December 2025) and $2,000 in Year 2 (disbursed in June and December 2026).
- All-expenses-paid in-person convening with other Collective members.
- Media Engagement: Opportunities to write Op-Eds, participate in interviews, and speak at events.
- Professional Development: Training in public speaking, media engagement, and policy advocacy.
- Leadership Workshops: Exclusive invitations to leadership development workshops and media training.
- Recognition: Appearances on MECC’s website, social media, and state-level reports.
- Networking: Access to state policymakers and education leaders.
- Professional Materials: Complimentary professional headshots and media materials to enhance your public presence.
Participation Requirements:
- Attend monthly virtual/hybrid meetings and two in-person convenings annually.
- Complete action items, such as attending policy briefings, submitting written contributions, and engaging in advocacy campaigns.
- Serve as a public representative of Massachusetts E4E educators, including media interviews and legislative meetings.
- Day of Action: Attend a designated Day of Action, where MECC members will engage in advocacy efforts such as meeting with legislators or organizing public events to highlight key education issues.

Kickoff Convening: December 17th (virtual introduction)
First In-Person Meeting: January 2025 (the official start of the two-year term)
