Educators for Excellence Launches #SendTeachersLove to Celebrate Educators
May 1 (New York) — On the first day of Teacher Appreciation Month, Educators for Excellence (E4E), a teacher-led organization, launched #SendTeachersLove, a social media campaign to show educators across our country how much they are appreciated and valued, especially during this time of crisis. Over 40 members of Congress and celebrities have committed to celebrating how teachers have gone above and beyond for their students before and during the pandemic.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has been the single largest disruption to education in generations,” said Sydney Morris, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Educators for Excellence. “Yet, educators across our country are rising to meet these challenges, navigating unexpected obstacles, and persisting to reach and connect with their students. This year, honoring teachers is more important than ever.”
Each year, E4E celebrates May as Teacher Appreciation Month — an opportunity to recognize excellent educators and the amazing work they do. This year, as traditional in-school celebrations are not possible, E4E is encouraging everyone to share why they appreciate teachers, whether it’s a teacher they had, one of their kids’ teachers, or just appreciating all teachers.
“We know that social media posts aren’t enough to celebrate the tremendous and important work teachers do – especially right now,” said Evan Stone, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Educators for Excellence. “But hopefully it’s a small way we can show them how much they are appreciated.”
