Educators for Excellence-Connecticut Reacts to Connecticut Legislature Finalizing Budget Negotiations

“For the first time in our state’s history, the Education Cost Sharing (ECS) formula has received full funding, and we welcome this achievement,” said Daniel Pearson, Executive Director of Educators for Excellence – Connecticut. “And further, we applaud state leadership for recognizing that special education specifically has individual needs and requires more than the excess cost grant (ECG) funding. While we need to continue to fund the ECG, we are pleased to see that there are additional funds allocated to special education

“As we have seen recently, inflation is skyrocketing and education costs are rising. Even with a fully funded ECS formula, the legislature must make changes to keep up with increasing expenses. If we do not proactively address this now, we risk expenses exceeding our anticipated needs and, once again, our schools falling short on critical resources. While celebrating this win, we must also plan for Connecticut’s future.”
