Voices from the Classroom to the White House

 I’m still absorbing all the incredible conversations from last night’s Educators for Excellence Voices from the Classroom to the White House meeting with teachers from across the country, where we set teacher-led policy priorities for the Biden administration in partnership with former Secretary of Education John King. To inform these priorities, we dove into results from Voices from the Classroom 2021: A Survey of America’s Educators, a nationally representative survey that captures the opinions of teachers across the country on key issues impacting public education.

After nearly a year of teaching in a pandemic, it was a relief and an inspiration to join with so many other peers across the country and speak candidly about what’s working, what isn’t, and what we need in order to elevate the teaching profession and make this system more equitable for our students. Here’s what we agreed on:

  • Supporting Student and Educator Wellbeing
  • Disrupting Racism and Advancing Inclusion
  • School Funding Equity

Now, we need to turn conversation into action and results. And that starts with getting these priorities directly in front of our Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. Will you take a moment to help Secretary Cardona get familiar with our priorities?
