Statement on Massive Layoffs at the U.S. Department of Education

Evan Stone • Co-Founder and CEO

The massive layoffs at the U.S. Department of Education are alarming and will have dire consequences for students, teachers, and schools nationwide. Cutting nearly half of the department’s staff threatens to throw federal education programs into chaos, disrupt key funding streams, and create uncertainty for the very schools that rely on these resources. This reckless move raises serious concerns about how—or if—critical programs will continue to function. As we assess the full impact of these cuts, one thing is clear: Congress must act immediately to protect the integrity of our education system and ensure that students and teachers are not left to bear the cost of this short-sighted decision.
