It’s happening today.

The U.S. Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments on President Trump’s decision to terminate DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

DACA has shielded hundreds of thousands of young undocumented immigrants, many of whom are our students and fellow teachers, from deportation. DACA has empowered them to live openly, pursue bright futures, and build productive lives for themselves and our society.

Since President Trump announced his decision to dismantle DACA, students have been living in fear that they may be forced to leave the only country they’ve ever known. As educators, we strive to ensure that all students are welcomed and included in our classrooms, regardless of immigration status. Our government must do the same.

Please take a few minutes right now to share this graphic on your social media platforms to show that you support DACA.

We, as a country, should not turn our backs on talented and promising young people in our communities, forcing them to hide in the shadows. When kids fear that they will be detained and deported or that their family will be pulled apart, it impedes their ability to not only learn, but to achieve the American dream.

We must do better.
