Darin Simmons, Jr.

Chief Operating and People Officer

Darin started his career in the classroom as a 9th and 10th grade social studies and economics teacher in St. Louis, Missouri. Since that time, Darin has worked in a variety of leadership roles with school districts, nonprofits, and large consulting firms, where he’s worked to improve education outcomes for students, coach and develop team members, and lead large scale organizational change initiatives. Most recently, Darin served as Chief Operating Officer at Bottom Line, and previously, Darin served as COO of Richmond Public Schools, worked in management consulting at Accenture and Booz Allen, and held multiple roles at DC Public Schools in HR and people work. Darin comes to E4E with a passion for “doing right by kids, educators, and families.” Darin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and African & African American Studies from the University of Virginia, a Master of Education Leadership, and a Master of Business Administration from George Mason University, and is a doctoral student in Education Policy at American University in Washington, DC, where he’s researching parent and educator engagement in school district budgeting processes. In his free time, Darin loves to volunteer for issues and campaigns that he’s passionate about and playing overly competitive games of UNO with his wife Nagaina (Nikki), and their two sons, Marshall and Carter.
