When it Comes to Making Education Policy, Call on Educators!
Jacqueline Portee • Middle School English/Language Arts Teacher, Leland Elementary

If your house is on fire, you call the fire department. So why don’t we call on educators when it comes to shaping education policy?
As you know all too well, our voices are often overlooked when decisions are made that impact our students, schools, and profession.
That’s why after more than 1,200 surveys and 20 focus groups of Chicago educators, we are releasing an issue guide that outlines the concerns educators care about the most. We’re also hosting a series of conversations for educators to discuss how we can influence policymakers on these crucial issues. Will you join us?
