Jahleel Alieu was born to immigrant parents from Jamaica and Africa, and he takes great pride in his rich Caribbean and African heritage. Raised in Boston’s Mattapan and Dorchester neighborhoods, he developed a love for basketball, playing through high school, AAU, and some college. Inspired by his mother, a nurse, Jahleel nurtured a passion for helping others, particularly the youth. His recent experience as a Legislative Aide in the Massachusetts State House includes working on significant legislation, such as the passage of the “No Cost Calls” law.
Jahleel is currently a student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Political Science and Sociology. His commitment to education and social justice led him to join Educators for Excellence (E4E), an organization that reflects his values. As an organizer, Jahleel is eager to engage educators across the state, connecting them with resources and opportunities to elevate their voices and become leaders of change. He believes that education is the key to ensuring young people are set up for success, and through his work, he strives to make a lasting impact on the future of education.
