Casey Metcalfe

Minnesota State Director of Public Affairs

Casey Metcalfe serves as State Director of Public Affairs for Educators for Excellence–Minnesota, bringing more than a decade of experience as a classroom teacher, organizer, and advocate for students and educators.

Casey began his career teaching middle school students in rural, suburban, and urban communities across Western Wisconsin and Minnesota. During nearly a decade in the classroom, he led district equity and engagement teams, facilitated youth voice campaigns, and worked alongside students and educators to turn their experiences into tangible changes in school policy and practice. Those experiences shaped his belief that the people closest to students must have meaningful power in the decisions that affect their schools.

After leaving the classroom in 2024, Casey served as Director of Government Relations for Students United, representing more than 50,000 Minnesota State University students at the State Capitol and in Washington, D.C. In that role, he led successful legislative campaigns that expanded investments in student basic needs, strengthened voting access, and guaranteed priority registration for student parents.

As State Director of Public Affairs, Casey leads E4E-Minnesota’s policy, government relations, communications, and advocacy strategy. He is especially passionate about building meaningful career pathways for educators to exercise leadership within their schools and beyond their classrooms.

Casey is a proud graduate of Wisconsin’s singing university, the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire.
