Tell Congress teachers deserve additional compensation for their work
All teachers deserve higher pay. This is especially true for teachers who work in hard-to-staff schools and subject areas, and high performing teachers. These educators’ pay must reflect their hard work.
All teachers, and particularly teachers of color, overwhelmingly favor differentiating compensation for top performers or teachers working in hard-to-staff schools or subject areas.
Teacher pay must reward high performers and support efforts to recruit teachers to high-need subject areas. Take action now—send an email to your legislators asking them to support President Biden’s request for $200 million for Teacher and School Leader Incentive Grants, which provide competitive awards specifically to high-needs schools to help develop, implement, and improve performance-based compensation systems.
