Educators have made it clear that teacher diversity and preparation are inextricably linked.
Decision makers are listening. Minnesota legislators have now included additional funding and improvements for the Collaborative Urban Educator (CUE) program in the main education finance bill. This critical state-level grant program incentivizes teacher preparation institutions to diversify their candidate pools, and we applaud that legislators have prioritized the recruitment and training of a diverse teaching force.
Last week, the Education Conference Committee bill was released, and it included the provisions E4E educators advocated for. Specifically, the CUE language includes a competitive grant program that is immediately open to any program and the funds will be distributed based on outcomes.
