Statement from Ama Nyamekye, Executive Director Of Educators 4 Excellence-Los Angeles, On LAUSD School Board agreement to fund Common Core program

“Last night’s agreement to provide $113M to train teachers for LAUSD Common Core standards is a victory for Los Angeles’ teachers, students, and parents. Getting Common Core right depends on implementing the standards well, and our members overwhelmingly agree that they need increased access to development, training, and feedback. E4E Members have written a policy paper and urged union, district and school board leadership to push for this kind of leadership pathway and investment in teachers as early pioneers and trainers of Common Core. Our membership commends the District for recognizing the important role that teachers play in developing and implementing smarter policies.”
