Educators for Excellence Reacts to Proposal to Merge U.S. Departments of Education and Labor
June 21 (New York) — Educators for Excellence (E4E), a teacher-led organization, strongly objected to President Donald J. Trump’s proposal to combine the United States Department of Education with the Labor Department.
"The proposal to merge the U.S. Department of Education with the Labor Department may not be a new idea, but it serves as an important reminder that the Trump Administration's goal is to strangle the federal government's ability to ensure that our most vulnerable students have access to a great education," said Sydney Morris, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Educators for Excellence. "It is not enough to say we value every student in our country - our government must also reflect that with its budgets, programs and policies. We call on Congress to stop this attempt to dilute the important role that the Education Department plays in making sure all students have a chance at success."
