Educators for Excellence-Connecticut Reacts to New Haven Federation of Teachers Election Results

December 5 (New Haven) — Educators for Excellence-Connecticut (E4E-Connecticut), a teacher-led organization, today reacted to the results of the New Haven Federation of Teachers (NHFT) elections.

“Congratulations to David Cicarella and Pat DeLucia, the newly elected President and Executive Vice President of the New Haven Federation of Teachers, and to all the educators who ran for positions in their union,” said Evan Stone, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Educators for Excellence. “We want to thank each and every NHFT member who took the time to vote in this election that had one of the highest turnouts of all time. Teachers unions and their leaders are crucial to ensuring teachers have a seat at the decision-making table. The democratic process strengthens our unions as they engage rank-and-file members and hear the diversity of voices on the policies that impact our students and our profession, which is why we were so excited to see a robust and competitive election. We look forward to working with President Cicarella and Executive Vice President DeLucia on the issues that matter most to New Haven teachers, including building a talented, diverse, and culturally competent teacher workforce.”
