Earlier this month, the co-chairs of the education committee, along with other key education stakeholders, held a press conference to announce the committee’s legislative priorities during the 2020 legislative session — and one more important priority is still under consideration.
Sen. Doug McCrory, D-Hartford, and Representative Bobby Sanchez, D-New Britain, identified the top priorities as: addressing the opportunity gap, diversity in the teaching profession, reading and financial literacy, and expanding eligibility for the Care4Kids program. All of these are important pieces of the puzzle to ensuring that students have access to a quality education.
