Born and raised in Connecticut, Rachel started her early career in music education. She joined Teach for America shortly after graduating college and was sent to Memphis, Tennessee where she was able to see the visible inequity when it came to quality of education.
She pursued a Master’s degree at Columbia University to gain more knowledge around literacy and develop strategies for teaching reading and writing. After seven years as an educator, she quickly realized the changes she wanted to see would be very difficult from within the classroom.
Rachel joined E4E to help empower other educators and to instill hope for positive change. As an organizer, she enjoys being in a school environment, interacting with teachers across New Haven, and giving individuals opportunities to advocate for themselves and their students.
