Princess Lyles Managing Director of Outreach

Proudly hailing from Hartford, Connecticut, Princess now calls Harlem home. Princess is an experienced leader, focused on  community organizing and engagement. Prior to joining Educators for Excellence, Princess served as the executive director of Democracy Builders, a parent advocacy organization focused on authentically engaging parents in school advocacy issues, and as the senior director of family & community engagement for the Democracy Prep Public Schools network, where she was responsible for recruiting and engaging thousands of families on education initiatives.

Princess began her work in organizing after moving to New York and working on issue-based campaigns with Bill Lynch & Associates and The Black Institute. Prior to finding her true passion in education advocacy, Princess practiced corporate and real estate law with Shipman & Goodwin LLP. Princess obtained her bachelor of arts in political science from Spelman College and her J.D. from Howard University School of Law.

Princess joined E4E because she has seen first hand the impact that great teachers have on the students and families they serve. She is interested in using her skills in education advocacy to ensure teacher voices are heard in very real and practical ways.

“Besides parents, teachers are arguably the most important people we put in front of our children. Their voices must be heard and recognized in all discussions of educational policy.”
