Matthew Raymond Senior Outreach Director

Matthew received his bachelor’s from Boston University where he studied history and social science secondary education and received his master’s in education from Boston College where he studied moderate special needs and urban studies. For two years, he taught at a middle school in Boston before moving to Oakland, California. He also served as a literacy specialist in the Peace Corps in Uganda, working both as a teacher and a coach for teachers, as well as organizing the use of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.

Matthew moved to Los Angeles and is working on making a bigger, systemic impact beyond the classroom as an outreach director in the Harbor region, where he loves meeting with his teachers to talk about policy.

"I believe teachers are the experts and should have the ability to make decisions for their profession. I trust teachers to know what is right for their students."
