Maggie Bruecken Program Coordinator

Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, Maggie always had a strong tie to education. Maggie first entered the field of education as a literacy coordinator with the Saint Paul Public Library. She ran a tutoring program for kids and opened an after-school homework center. Maggie went on to obtain a teaching license in the urban teaching program at Metropolitan State University.

Maggie taught seventh- and eighth- grade language arts for six years before joining Educators for Excellence. She believes that all students deserve equal access to a quality education and one way this can be achieved is through an elevated teaching profession where educators have a voice in the decisions that impact the classroom.

"Teachers must have a voice in the decisions that impact our students."
