Ellen Christian West Development Manager

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Ellen grew up in an environment of educational enrichment. After graduating from St. Joseph’s University with a double major in English and Spanish, Ellen was inspired by her alma mater’s Jesuit values to dedicate her career to advancing teachers and students in the nonprofit sector.

Ellen began her career as a professional fundraiser for charities devoted to arts and education in New York. She moved to California and gained invaluable experience with the fundraising team at the University of Southern California prior to starting work as a development officer at the Institute for Educational Advancement (IEA), an organization that provides programs and financial support towards the intellectual, creative, and personal growth of gifted students. Her efforts raising funds for teachers, students, and educational programming eventually led her to connect to the mission and vision of E4E. In addition to her professional work with educational nonprofits, Ellen has also pursued her love of teaching as a volunteer docent at the Huntington Library, Art Collection, and Botanical Gardens in Pasadena and is an accredited Suzuki violin instructor.

Always eager to learn from and support her colleagues, Ellen is a proud member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Los Angeles Chapter (AFP-GLAC) where she recently joined the Board of Directors. As a fundraiser, Ellen loves sharing inspirational stories of educators who are making a difference in the world.

"Teachers, like their students, need to be nurtured, encouraged, and supported. They have an enormous responsibility in helping shape and prepare the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and innovators."
