Throughout her K-12 education at public schools in Iowa, Christina was lucky to be surrounded by teachers who encouraged her love of writing. After graduating from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and writing for several publications in the Midwest, she was motivated to share her passion with students by becoming a teacher.
For five years, Christina taught a variety of middle school-level subjects in St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, and supported students in launching student newspapers at two schools. While teaching, she first became engaged in education advocacy efforts through part-time fellowship opportunities, then joined the Policy Innovators in Education (PIE) Network team to support the incredibly important work of state-level education advocates across the country. Currently, she also prioritizes staying engaged with local education as a volunteer for tutoring programs and school board campaigns.
Christina’s experiences growing up in a family of educators, teaching the best students in the Twin Cities, and telling the stories of meaningful policy wins for kids all inspired her to join the Educators for Excellence team. She is thrilled for the opportunity to leverage her communications background in support of E4E members.
