Amani was born and raised in Queens, New York, and grew up as a first-generation American where her parents emphasized the importance of education. Following in her mother's footsteps, Amani became a teacher, where she specialized in English as a Second Language. After her time in the classroom, Amani worked for the State of Connecticut and South Bronx United, which works with inner-city youth and many kids who are first-generation and immigrants.
After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Health and Wellness Management from Excelsior College, Amani worked in addiction services and then entered the non-profit sector.
Amani joined E4E because she values education and enjoys supporting teachers who are on the frontlines fighting for a more equitable education system that better serves students.
