Alex Cassanova Director of Development Strategy and Operations

Alex grew up in the Sacramento area, where she attended public schools with great teachers from preschool through high school. After graduating, she spent a year just a quick drive away in Oakland at Mills College before transferring to The George Washington University, where she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. After nearly 10 years in Washington D.C. and New York, Alex made her way home to Sacramento in 2017.

In college, Alex developed a deep love of writing and realized her desire to have a positive impact on the world. After an advisor suggested trying out grant writing, she began volunteering in the development department of the Children’s Law Center. Multiple internships, graduation, and a move to New York City later, she landed her first full-time gig as the founding development associate at 50CAN. Eight years later, she has dedicated her career to supporting education advocates in securing the resources they need to drive change for students through a variety of development roles at 50CAN, Teach For America, and—most recently— GO Public Schools.

Alex is thrilled to continue this work at E4E where she is focused on supporting the organization in taking its development systems, tools, processes, and strategies to the next level.

"I’ve been able to support the full range of advocates throughout my career and know the critical role teachers play in identifying and driving forward changes that are right for kids and families."
