Salary: This is a non-exempt full time position. The salary band for this role is $43,700 to $59,200 ($23 to $31 per hour) *based on NYC cost of labor and adjusted for candidates in different geographic regions.

About Us

Founded by public school teachers, Educators for Excellence is a growing movement of educators, united around a common set of values and principles for improving student learning and elevating the teaching profession. We work together to identify issues that impact our schools, create solutions to these challenges, and advocate for policies and programs that give all students access to a quality education. We do this by treating teachers as agents of change instead of subjects of change because research shows that classroom teachers are the single most important in-school factor in improving student achievement.

Our Theory of Change is grounded in two long-term goals that are inextricably linked: better outcomes for our students and the elevation of the quality and prestige of the teaching profession. We achieve these goals by changing policy at the district, state, and federal levels and transforming our teachers’ union to be more student-focused, democratic, diverse, and anti-racist. United around our Declaration of Teachers’ Principles and Beliefs, we are building a powerful movement to lead this change by:

  • Organizing educators who share a common vision of equity and excellence in schools,
  • Training and supporting teacher leadership, and
  • Advocating for teacher-led recommendations at all levels of government, within teachers’ unions, and in the public conversation around education.

The Opportunity
E4E organizes anti-racist, student focused educators, builds their leadership capabilities and collective power through issue based advocacy campaigns, and supports them to take on positions of leadership in their schools, districts, and most importantly, in their unions. We have made incredible progress organizing teachers to take action to uplift their students and profession. Through E4E, tens of thousands of educators have signed on to a common vision for elevating the teaching profession and improving student outcomes; thousands of teacher members have successfully advocated for and won equity and excellence focused policy changes in their local communities; and hundreds have trained for and taken on positions of elected and appointed leadership in their schools, districts, and unions.

To further our mission of equity in education, we seek an Executive Assistant (EA) to support E4E’s Chief Growth Officer (CGO) and Chief Operating and People Officer (COPO). The EA will provide high-level administrative and logistical support. The EA will address the daily and long-term operational and administrative needs of the CGO and COPO, and develop new and maintain current systems and lead initiatives that enable E4E’s work to effectively operate. This is an ideal role for someone with previous executive assistant or support experience, previous experience in the operations, administrative, and culture components of effective team building, and a passion for equity within nonprofits and in the education sector. Additional work streams may include refining systems to assist executives’ ability to function effectively and efficiently, and completing other special projects as needed. The EA will play a lead role in coordinating internal communications, managing logistics for both in-person and virtual team events, and providing administrative support for these senior leaders.  

Responsibilities: What actions will you leverage day-to-day?

Executive support:

  • Support national senior leaders with administrative support, including scheduling meetings, conference calls, managing calendars, arranging travel, managing correspondence, and processing reimbursements and expenditures 
  • Draft and manage a high volume of correspondence to internal and external constituents on behalf of executive leaders and for team support
  • Support leaders with development-related administrative/operational tasks such as gift acknowledgment letters and funder prospecting support
  • Support leaders with finance and operations related administrative tasks, like running reports and sharing data
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with team staff to support effective ways of working across the Growth and Development, and the Finance, Operations, People and Equity teams
  • Prepare team meeting agendas and notes, when requested, with support from the CGO, COPO, and other leaders
  • Support document and slide proofreading as needed
  • Prepare materials, research, and background information for team retreats; arrange complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas, assuming responsibilities for all logistics
  • Manage workflow for the Executive Team members to ensure that priorities align to required capacity 
  • Update project plans as needed
  • Update CRM system with correspondence tracking as needed for funder and partner communication management

Support special projects:

  • Support the execution of high level organizational projects that cut  across  work  streams in close collaboration with Executive Team members

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of professional experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and corresponding Google Suite products. Understanding of reporting databases (i.e. Salesforce) preferred, very comfortable with phone and email outreach.
  • Transportation: Works out of the office. Currently hybrid due to Covid-19

Compensation Policy

This is a non-exempt full time position. 

The salary band for this role is $43,700 to $59,200 ($23 to $31 per hour)

Within this range, our competitive, non-negotiable salary offer will be based on a candidate’s relevant experience and credentials, role-related competencies assessed through our robust hiring process, and geographic location. 

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
